Speaking of crap, there appears to be a little poopie smear coming from the exit end.

lol, yes silly you. Cool pic Shawn, hows brainmaps going?

Thanks Maximus. It's going quite well. It is progressively increasing in amount of data that is available and is over 40 terabytes as of now. There are many projects that have been spawned as a result of all of this data online. For example, extracting 3D information and having interactive visualization of complicated brain objects and systems in 3D. Or redefining the organization of the brain, not in terms of brain areas, but in terms of chemically, connectionally, and morphologically defined neuron classes which are oftentimes distributed and are not confined to classical brain area boundaries. There are complex chemical compartmental structures and systems in the brain that have not yet been mapped out in 3D and so their global organization is still unknown, even though this data is already available online in 2D slices. There are various types of spatial statistical analyses that can be run, or analyses of neuron morphologies. And in the longer term, it is my intention that all of this detailed neuroanatomy will better inform computational and theoretical models of the brain, which I will get more involved in when enough data is collected.

And finally, there is my intention that even higher-resolution whole-brain data will be made available, so that the details of every single synapse and every single dendrite and axon in the brain are known and mapped out in detail.

holy sh*t.. nicely done
