Just when I thought I finally got my head around a proposed stacking schedule, I've run into another glut of contradictions.

I'm a 6 foot, medium-build, 18-year-old and for the past few months I've been taking various vitamins and supplements, but nothing of any substantial value (another important detail; I work in a pharmacy!! cost-effective wink.gif). I look to embark on a far more serious regimen, my primary goals being:

- Word recall/speech fluency: Very often when explaining something I get stuck looking for words, even quite simple ones sometimes. It can be very demoralising.

- Clarity/Awareness: Just because smile.gif

- Short term memory: Once again, horrible. Although, I think I've noticed a slight improvement over the past month resulting from a month's use of Brahmi + Ginkgo + PS (see: Bioglan Focus caps).

- Concentration: I'm starting university next year and would like to make a ripping start!

- General improved cognition: My strengths lie in the area of abstract reasoning and.... mental picturing (grrrrr.... can't find the words I'm looking for!!!), I enjoy logic flows etc. but any boost anywhere would be much appreciated smile.gif

My mother takes a couple of Ginseng pills* a day which interests me vaguely.

*1g each of Korean/Siberian/Indian/American Ginseng root

Now comes the time where I plead for your assistance, I've looked around quite a bit and believe some Pircetam and Choline might be in order, however someone said before Pircetam might not be ideal at my age.

Any thoughts?

What am I doing right/wrong?

Thanks everyone!

I would try Acetyl-L-Carnitine.

Also sleep needs to be managed well and consistent exercise should be present.
simon
Piracetam, Alpha-GPC, r-Alpha lipoic acid, A-L-Carnitine, Dark Chocolate (always for nice chemicals) Research each of them and combine accordingly. What do you say Lifemirage (he knows his stuff)?
Shamus
I've been looking at Piracetam, Alpha-GPC and maybe a bit of hydergine on the side recently.

Why recommend the r-Alpha lipoic acid and A-L-Carnitine?

And, most importantly wink.gif, why the dark chocolate?
aesop
Not entirely relevant to the thread, but if someone could answer my question that would be great..

Do these things really make a noticable difference? If so, why isn't this more mainstream?

Most don't really. Several noops do have an effect that is noticable, but unless you want to go the road of pharms, don't expect any effect stronger than a cup of coffee or energy drink.

They do have alot of validity in regards to anti-aging and neuroprotection, but as far as strong effects in healthy adults...
simon
r-Alpha lipoic acid is more bioavailable however I believe 3-1 ratio of r-ALA to s-ALA is good.
A-L-Carnitine has nootropic benefit maybe via it's ability to enhance the mitochondrial energy output (amongst other pathways) so if a cell is producing more energy then free radicals will also be produced so a relevant anti-oxidant would be appropriate, r-ALA is a good choice maybe Idebonone would be a good addition too. Hydergine is a goody but for me the runny nose was a bit of an annoyance so I prefer vincamine.
Dark chocolate- Theobroma means food of the Gods but seriously it's a polyphenols reason really along with he feel good chemicals cerebral, PEA and vasodilation. Low fat, dark as midnight. I like mine with hot water, cinnamon, whey protein and a dose of manuka honey or Rapidura sugar Yum I'm off to get one now. See y'

I do find the stimulation different from caffeine though and with a greater ability to think creatively.

I would recommend the following nootropics:

Piracetam, L-Huperzine A, Pyritinol.

I would suggest the following changes:

Discontinue your Focus caps.

Reduce your zinc intake to less than 25 mg or increase your total copper to 1 mg daily.

Replace your vitamin E with a high Gamma tocopherol formula.

Insure your chewable C is non-acidic.

Most nootropics start working within a few hours some are noticable others are not. They are the most important compounds someone should take daily to enhance and protect your cognitive abilites.

Currently enhancing memory in a healthy person is considered unethical in most medical org's. Thus research and approval for such compounds are rarely done. Also only recently was Brain Aging (MCI) considered a disease and only now and such drugs be researched and approved for that use.

Haha, I've been told to drop the yummy chewable vitamin C's, why is that?

May I remind you of how awfully yummy they are wink.gif
