The URL attached links to a interview of Douglas Rushkoff (Children of
Chaos, The Media Virus) by RU Sirius ('nuff said) on his comic series
"Testament"

I've been reading Testament since about issue 4, it's a very strange
and wonderful thing that looks at the allegories of the bible and
mirrors them to a current day fiction. It's utterly bizarre at times,
but wonderful. The interview is certainly worth reading.

Man, you always come up with the coolest links. They always manage to get my attention. Merry xmas all the way to Nam and keep up the good work, Cult!
Joesus
Religions are never the problem, only understanding of their roots.
Generally speaking few ever look at the bigger picture, they only look at single events and then judge the whole.

It's always nice when intelligent people can look through words to the intent of the message and the situation in which it is presented.
cerebral
Joesus, does your Happy Feet avatar contain a hidden message?
Joesus
You see something?
cerebral
playing the role of penguin?
Joesus
The one with the cymbals or the purse?
cerebral
I'm just curious why you picked that image, why it appealed to you
Joesus
I liked it, first because I thought it was funny, second because I thought it might have a symbolic resonance to a few like minded individuals.
Hey Hey

What, like violently disturb the contented?
Joesus
Anyone who is truly content, cannot be disturbed.
But those who are sleeping can be awakened.

The only individuals I know who can read the minds of others are schizophrenics (wacko.gif). How would you know? I actually believe the exact opposite - the truly content are the only ones who want to be disturbed, so they can be made aware of everything.
Joesus
The truly content are aware.

After i've had a nice meal, maybe a beer, and went to sleep, I would be absolutely content. If some little asshole penguin came around banging his cymbols I would no longer be content. Everything doesn't have to be perfect for one to be content~

Contentment is perfection....inside and out.

The asshole penguin would be a perfect asshole penguin.

Joesus, you're just a playing with words and using definitions that hardly anyone accepts. Are you claiming to be truly content?

Joesus
QUOTE
Joesus, you're just a playing with words and using definitions that hardly anyone accepts.

The reality of life is often confined to definitions that are acceptable to the majority. Tho there are some good things in life there is room for growth beyond perceptions and actions based on greed, insensitivity or the ignoring of the greater reality of all life and the inter-connected-ness of all things.

People who are resistent to seeing things differently evolve slowly and eventually die in their resistence to growth beyond limitation. Words are meant to be played with as is life. Why hold anything to a finite reality or perspective? Are you saying you are unwilling to step outside socially accepted constructs of conventional thinking, or that I am breaking some rule?

QUOTE
Are you claiming to be truly content?
What ever claim I could make would be meaningless if there is no one listening, or if no one who could or would listen?
Would you believe me if I said yes?

Perhaps we should bang those symbols to wake you up then!

You are doing that whether you realise it or not.

Killer avatar, Flex. Does it have any specific meaning?
Lao_Tzu
I was wondering about your avatar actually, Code - what does the ideogram mean, if anything?

If you're into them, there's a sweet ideogram of "emptiness" at http://www.mtholyoke.edu/~rjbarlow/classwe...s/emptiness.jpg

Oh that! I was hoping you didn’t ask because then I would have to embarrass myself answering to the question in the process. So here is my best try.
The ideogram happens to be a copy of a fortunate accident; product of my life-long curiosity for the indelible ink on the dermic surface. In Chinese calligraphy, it is the symbol that represents the fire-breathing mythological creature that best symbolizes the Yang. And it is forever plastered right where I wanted it, very close to my heart. I picked it out of the many choices I had at the time, just by accident; but what a fortunate accident it turned out to be! As it has developed to become a more profound, even spiritual meaning to and about my life and its meaning; at least to me. And as a bonus, chicks really dig it!!!
Lao_Tzu
Awesome! I do dig it.

There's a negative cross in the middle - white in the black outline.

That's amazing!!! I hadn't noticed it until you told me! I checked the one on my shoulder and it's even more pronounced in it! Thanx, Lao! This only means one more cross for me to bear, I gather! But this one's special, though:visible to the naked eye and earned the hard way; through pain.
