Full Version: If the Universe is Expanding, Are We Expanding With It?!

the observation that galaxies are racing away from each other is interpreted to mean that the universe is expanding, and is also interpreted to mean that the fabric of space itself is expanding. So doesn't that mean that we, our bodies, are each expanding too?

For now, bowing to the knowledge of astro-physicists, I will agree that of course we are expanding. But only if we choose to do so.

I am moved to ask physicists: Into what are we expanding? Is it okay if I call this "what", GØD?smile.gif
In addition, I ask: From what did we begin to expand? Again, I will name IT, GØD.

BTW, Augustine (354-430 CE) defined God as, like a circle, "whose circumference is everywhere and whose centre is nowhere." That was in the fifth century---long before so-called modern science.smile.gif I think it was Einstein who spoke of the "power of the imagination".

Yep, happens to us all in middle age! wink.gif

That's the implication. In the future, one meter will be longer than it is today. By my calculation, in 100 million years there should be a 1% slowing in the measured speed of light as a result.

All joking aside, over a year ago, I was led to read a book I have had on my shelf, for years, about the Five Tibetan Rites (yogic moves)
http://www.mkprojects.com/pf_TibetanRites.htm I read and practiced the moves, daily. It only takes a few minutes. No more waist problem. I offer no guarantees that this will work for everyone, but it sure helped me, and it also lifted my energy level. smile.gif

Please, forgive me. I trust you will pardon my diverting one and all from the important topic at hand.

I have pretty much given up on astrologists and astro-physicists, they have been wrong so many times you could almost flip a coin with the same accuracy. Some space physics is carried out with a bit more stability.

Example, first Pluto was a planet, then we might have a extra planet in the galaxy, now its been decided that Pluto and the other really far planet (forgot the name) are not planets. This is only one example, im avoiding astro-physics until they get their act together.

I think it was Bertrand Russell who said that there is no such a thing as an exact science; there are only approximations.

Whatever happens to be the true nature of the universe--an expanding one, or one that is fixed, with galaxies whirling around at the outer edges--I find it awesome to think about. What IS at the core of our universe? What IS at the outer edge? Awe-producing questions!!!

And, in my opinion, the fact that we have the ability to think about it, to ask questions about the nature of it all, and to find some answers, is equally awesome. Don't you agree?

Relatively speaking.
