Has anyone thought of turning voicesnet and poetry.com into the Better Busness B.? I think they should know about this so others are not taken from their hard earnd money!!!!!!from what I can see as I investigated is they are two of the same people.

I would really suggest you report both sites to Better Business. Poetry.com, as it is dangerous, Voices, as then B.B.B. could look into your virulent, fruadulent, derogatory and inflammatory statements. Lawsuit, anyone?

Hi, this is Jeff Humphrey.  I run VoicesNet.com.

We are not a scam of anybody and we judge every poem and have declined close to 7000 poems so far.

Our first book was just published, and we will be posting its picture to our website at www.voicesnet.com within a week.  I have one sitting right here - it took months to put the pieces together and it is a very high quality publication - and guess what - many of the poets, in fact. most of them, did not even buy the book and had their poetry published around the world at no cost to them.  In our first contest cycle, we published 155 of 992 poems entered - what a scam?

Mr Lance, you were fan of how we ran our contest until we parted company.

Steven and Krissy and Dara did some wonderful things for VoicesNet.com and I have always appreciated that.

I am sorry that you are angry at me if we didn't handle the matters appropriately.

We disagreed on some things and parted company and VoicesNet.com has always taken the high ground and not discussed the matter publicly on the Net.  We will continue to do that - although we can not control what the members of our forum do, just as you can't here at Mind-Brain.com.

We consider the disagreement behind us and don't understand why we are still discussing this matter.

Are you wanting us to get into an open debate of the whole maytter online, or something?  We don't think that would be productive for either side.

There was likely a lot of pain to get over at that time and we are sorry that anybody was hurt for any reason.  That is not our intent of being on the Internet.

We do want to make a lot of money some day because we want the company to sustain for a long time, encouraging reading and writing around the world.

Right now though, as a new company on the Internet, we are in a process of hoping that we sell enough books to cover our costs - I have yet to take a pay check for over 15 months.  Does that sound like a scam?

It sounds like the intent is to make money, not to disseminate poetry.  The poetry is just a vehicle for the cash.  It looks like you are still in the investment stage, making no money ~yet~.  This does not prove that you are not a scam, it only proves that payoff hasn't happened.  

some questions:
What kind of compensation do you offer your employees? (and, yes, moderators are employees)  
Who owns the stock in this company? (if the company becomes valuable, who profits?)
Who is your target demographic for sales?  
What is your marketing strategy?

JJ, not for nothing, I think it is prety LOW and rotten of you to ban people simply for asociation with someone you had a disagrement. ANyhow, your loss.

ALSO, we are only speaking the truth here. Were we all not banned for NO reason, with no explination? Were we NOT scammed? We spent a lot of time and energy on all the forums there, just to be discarded for no apparent reason. I feel scammed, I am sure others do as well.

I will not enter the debate regarding whether VoicesNet is a scam or not.  What seems evident to me is that everyone is entitled to express their own opinion, and indeed, may do so in this forum.  Trying to suppress other people's free expression of speech, just because you don't happen to agree with them, thru intimidation tactics, including accusations of 'slander'. are simply ludicrous.   Nobody here in this forum should feel intimidated over expressing their opinions, whatever they may be.

Jeff (JJ), I cannot verify that this is your first post here.  However, I can verify that your IP address from the above post does not match 'a's IP address.   As we all know, IP addresses can be easily manipulated, and so it's not possible for me to completely rule out the possibility that you and 'a' are one and the same person.   However, to be fair, I think it highly unlikely that you and 'a' are one and the same.  More likely, I think, is the possibility that you had something to do with 'a's posts here and/or know of 'a's identity.   On the other hand, it also seems very likely to me that you had absolutely nothing to do with 'a's posts.   And so, given all of these possible scenarios, I choose not to say anything with certainty, since to do so would be dishonest, but would rather let the members of this forum draw their own conclusions regarding the matter at hand.

Dara is right in speaking for all of us! I for one was BANNED for no reason whatsoever?? That is not fair! :-[ However I feel and many others may agree by disregarding us and our feelings you have gained very little and lost alot. I for one look down wholeheartly on people who judge others....I was Judged and others were too simply because  we stood by my friends....

i dont know much about voicenet but i have posted some of my work on poetry ,com .
it seems to me like this jj hurt you lot . i dont know much about the problems but for so many people to get worked up about it, i have to realize that there must be some truth to it, any way i think that mindbrain is a brilliant site and the people are very nice.

First, my name, for these purposes, is Elf. I am the moderator coordinator at Voices. And, yes, I am also 'a'. Many may think me cowardly for posting without a proper name, but let's look at the facts.
First, person or persons ( unknown?) attack Voices, leaving many derogatory and demeaning messages concerning J.J., Voices , and myself.
Second, these same person(s) send e-mail to myself, and other moderators, concerning sick porno sites. I have a grandaughter who uses my computer. I have a wife who shares my computer. I DO NOT appreciate this kind of garbage being sent to me, no matter how badly someone may feel themselves 'hurt'
Now, I am accusing no one. But, when I do a search for other poetry sites, and I come across this one, and then read postings with words, not close to, but IDENTICAL to  many of the sick postings seen at Voices, almost IDENTICAL to the IM's I myself received from the disturbed inidividual who attacked Voices, I reacted. Without anyone's "permission", for I need none. And, only after I perused the whole site here, seeing so much immaturity and childish hate that I felt it foolish to take the chance to let all know my e-mail, although of course I knew at least one person could trace my IP#.
Now, all has been said. I think it is time for everyone to start reacting in a more mature, thinking manner. Illegal name mongering, slandering, etc. gets no one anyplace. Yes, that kind of hate mongering is not allowed at Voices, even if it was proven someone here was responsible for the attacks. Voices prides themselves on not allowing personal attacks. That is NOT limiting expression or freedom, that is considering the feelings and rights of all, not just one or two.
If the members here want to have their site grow, as I'm sure they do, this same over-all consideration must take priority. There cannot be complete personal freedom of expression, if that freedom is damaging others. Surely no one is so egotistical as to believe THEIR rights supersede all others? Let's grow together, live together, and stop this nonsense.

how does this site matter to voicesnet?  Why do you care what these people say here?  And what's with the rhetoric about 'slander' and 'immaturity'?  If you don't like what you see, don't come around.  If you feel the need to sue then do it, otherwise be mature and shut up about it already.  It's that simple

Just to catch you up, most of us members here at mind-brain were frequent members of voicesnet, and moderators there too. One day, JJ decided to ban all of us, without notice, shutting us down form our forums where we made positive impacts on others...jsut as we do here. Same forums, same moderators as we have here...

Now, we have been used, and hurt by his actions. THEN there are members form that site who come here, where we have made a new home, a BETTER home, and bother US! I for one, HAVE been to voices net occasionally, just to peek in. NEVER have left bad messages, never even posted a message. SOOO, if they get emails and know IP addresses from people messing wiht htem, why not attack those people personally, not come HERE and do it. I take offense to that, and it adds to the felings I have towards voicesnet for banning us with no notice or reason...

And that is all i have to say about  that!
