Evolutionary Psychology can be a nightmare to discuss, for example take a look at Feral Children, some come from very intelligent families, but saying psychology is soley based on environmental is wrong too. Then we have to cross refrence constantly - its truely a pain in the ass to talk about.

Well, emoticons are not always effective at representing real world communication. blink.gif

If you think about it, laughter does not always correspond with humorous intentions. In this case, it was being used to express a feeling of intellectual comradery about the difficulties associated with a particular field of inquiry.

My comment was a double bluff attempt at humour that obviously didn't work (!*?$). You know I know you know! Well, it's nearly Christmas here in York, anyway.

But seriously Technologist, I'm grateful, you opened a door for me (cross-cultural proofs) that I must walk through. It's an area I have not thought about and in these culture-clashing times it might help to merge some sharp edges, for me at least.

lol, on a personal level I am an expert level NL holdem player so I find your reference to a double bluff particularly amusing. I guess in this instance you beat me at the meta-game. cool.gif

Well...your welcome, although I wasn't thinking about cross-cultural proofs when I provided the link. But since you bring up the topic, my primary application of EP in the past revolved around the phenomenon of religion. One of the things that I did notice was an incredible amount of systemic bias coming from the western perspective. Specifically, the large scale exclusion of eastern and animistic religious dynamics.

We'll never get very far if we remained trapped in the box of our own culture.
