1) Click on your name to go to your profile page. 2) Scroll to bottom of page and select "Avatar Options". 3) Go to "Enter a URL to an online avatar image". 4) Enter URL to online avatar image and click "Update Avatar" button.

Dear Shawn, are you sure that the IPs of the hackers you tracked are from those regions?

I had about that thought a while ago, what if the Cairo ip, was really a proxy or someone elses computer that got hacked, and then was used to hide the real hackers location. This is a much more common practice for hackers than going through a proxy, they use actual computers in diffrent locations through trojans and then control the victims computer through their computer.

There were two hacks at brainmeta, occurring on Dec 6 and 7. For the first hack on Dec 6, I traced the IP address back to Cairo and was able to ascertain that it was not a proxy, which leaves open the possibility that the computer in Cairo was hacked remotely to execute the brainmeta hack. However, there were telltale signs from the first brainmeta hack that the person was a novice and so it is very unlikely that the Cairo computer was hacked into, and so I can say with a high degree of certainty that the first hack was from Cairo. The second hack I did not trace back to Cairo, and I do not have much information on that except that, since disabling certain insecure PHP components, no further 'hacks' have occurred, which leads me to suspect that the second hack also exploited PHP insecurities, as did the first hack, and that similar hacks will not be repeated.

With regard to the spam postings, I implemented a special type of post filter a few days ago that so far seems to be working and blocking 100% of spam postings. If it blocks any legitimate posting attempts, please let me know about it (by emailing brainmaps at gmail dot com).

changing the status system is fairly easy. I was thinking something different may be more apt for BrainMeta. The rankings are now 'Worm', 'Aspiring', 'Awakening', 'Overman' (I wasn't sure how to do the umlaut for Uberman, and using Superman would bring up unwanted associations of a super hero in a red cape), 'Demi-God', and 'God'. If you have suggestions, I'm all ears.

Personally I think that 1000 posts before you get God status might become overwhelming and discouraging. Or it might encourage blabbery. As far as beyond God, I can't think of anything except Joesus.

Really? I didn't find it overwhelming, personally I don't even pay attention to the post count. I mean look at Life Mirage, he doesn't have that many posts, but he commands enormous respect because of the quality of his posts.

I say focus on quality over quantity, you will inevitably get a 1,000 posts if you hang around long enough anyways.

On second thoght, 1000 posts to God status is not so bad, as it keeps notorious spammers like datta-stunami from mocking this forum by appearing to be a worthy contributor when in fact he's just a freaking nagging spammer. Ironically, his number of posts give him "awakening" status, though... I'd say he's a long way from awaken, and advancing by leaps and bounds in the wrong direction, I may add.

First of all if you are the Code Buttons you know, then try to upload your previous avatars (hope you have them in your computer). I think they been matching to the forum technical requirments as you used them before.
Besides you can use ACDSee to Resize the pictures so to fit to the pixels required for uploading.
If you not upload one of your previous avatars in the comming 1-2 days, then we can conclude that you are not the Code we know and that his user was hacked, because it was a strange question about the God level under the avatars of a person who was focusing on the consciousness singularity concept.

The God status indicates that the person visited the Brain Meta for such a long period of time that he already developed or entered into some sort of consciousness singularity mode via the Brain Meta two Logos: Strange Lattice Cube and the Man looking at you through blue brain. ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

... because BrainMeta was hacked twice, two days in a row, using the upload feature. Its a security measure that you are unable to upload pics. Its a very serious matter and it is important to the security of the forum that the feature stays removed unless Shawn closes all possible security holes in the upload feature.
