I haven't seen the movie yet, but the book is truly weird, one of Dick's best. I suggest that reading it might also contribute to understanding the film.

A Scanner Darkly is on my wait list for DVD rental - it's due out late Jan 2007 in the UK. It is made in the same paint over style that Waking Life had. I enjoyed the latter. Then I watched What The Bleep and lost my faith in humanity.
