Nightmares
A long exhausting night
Of nightmares robbed me of my sight
Now I can only see
Those fearful visions forced on me
And hope and trust and pray
That somehow they will fade away
As the day shines on
Until they have gone
Held at bay by the light of day
Back into the dark whence they came
And may no afterimages remain
No echoes whispering my name
But buried be to never rise again
