sadness cages

a sadness cage
confines each world
as erudite
dissect the frowns
and bloodless scalpel keys
run through the locks
of time must pass

a sadness cage
protects the sick
to see, to reach
though never feel
the wisdom of the smiles
from gracious lips
that speak but hush

a sadness cage
befriends aspiring good
as warm breeze passes
through the bars
of birth to death
that never is
and never was
