After The Kiss
After the kiss, look heavenward, beyond the brightening sky
A residue could miss, turned perfume, washed with cry
In times so past an image of moist lips still resting smooth
For these are things should last and welcome will to sooth
After the touch, smiles longingly becalm tempestuous day
To feel so much, as though one never finds again the way
Aside can lie, tranquil embrace exceeding all the hours
For why would wonders such as these shed fading, scented flowers
After the song, stand motionless, hear echoes in the heart
Each lasts so long, as dreams, will never truly part
Then, should the soul become complete with accord, brush the strings
To play the whole and make the spell, for life will bear its wings
And of these gifts so few, embracing here the souls of men
In duty ought employ in full, renew and always know but when
