It seems a bit silly to have so many abandoned subforums (and some main forums with little traffic). Would be a lot tighter to have somewhat disjoint forums with all having good traffic. Maybe with the split off of the hard-science forums?

a lot of the hard science forums have relatively low postings, so what would you propose?

Clean them up a bit. I only care about the hard science stuff anyways--if the flighty types want lots of empty forums, let them.

flighty types

What do you mean by this?

let them.

We'll leave it at that then.

NB: Abandoned subforums could be viewed as "historical" just as Rick indicated in the argument for/against the poetry forum. On many occasions so-called "abandoned" subforums are reactivated when a new member sees a topic of interest, or an older member finds some time again (hint).

Indeed, I am not a fan of to much change on BrainMeta, it has been doing very well without needing to change anything, the key to BrainMeta lies in its content, not its format. Content is King here on BrainMeta

I don't know how hard this would be for Shawn to do, but right now, we can filter out certain subfora with the "Active Topics" option. Maybe that option could be enhanced so that each poster could design his own "virtual" Brainmeta in his profile area by selecting preferred subfora and excluding others from view. Chosen views could remain in place unless modified by the user.

Well, I'd like a separate site without the flighty types and flighty topics. If my donations can help this, then that's cool.
