CAIRO, EGYPT (AP) -- A new videotape, purportedly made by Osama bin Laden's deputy, contains a new threat toward the US and Persian Gulf countries and Israel.
In the tape aired by Al-Jazeera, Ayman al-Zawahri says the US shouldn't waste time reinforcing troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He says ''their fate is doomed.''
Instead, al-Qaida's number-two says the US should focus on the Gulf and Israel.
He also warns in general terms about new terror strikes, and calls on Muslims to intensify their resistance against the US especially in Lebanon and Gaza.
In what appear to be recently recorded references, Al-Zawahri condemns the Lebanese cease-fire and international peacekeeping force as ''hostile to Islam.'' And he says the US has given al-Qaida ''every legitimacy and every opportunity to continue fighting.''
