DARK CIRCLES

Suddenly a few dark circles
surfaced beneath my eyelids
Quite appalling to others
and also giving me many
embarrassing movements altogether

My better half
Took time
To leisurely turn
the pages of medical books, magazines and
also Periodicals
and came out adventurously
with some herbal tips
and prescription of some tablets
and application of some creams
all to assist the removal/reduction of the dark circles

Giving very scant respect
for these improptu suggestions in this regard
I stoutly rejected all the do’s
With a deep thought hugging my mind and soul together

The formation of dark circles
are not of a day, year or a decade
But are of almost five decades old
and had a historical back ground too

They grew with my passion
to raise high in my academic career
And also rose high to acquire more knowledge
By keeping me tight in
reading books in a bid to place me up above all others


They represent the result of the
strenuous efforts put in by me
during my service as a banker
and as a vivid reader of
old classics poetry
historic novels that rouse our emotions
short stories, modern novels
comics and current periodicals.

They have sincerely contributed their might
In increasing those circles in good numbers year after year

I don’t prefer to relieve them instantaneously
from the folios of my memories
I ‘ve acquired knowledge and reputation
during all these years
with so much of care and concern.
The dark circles allow me to recapitulate those memories

Now if by just applying creams, administering of tablets
And usage of herbal tips
Brush them of in no time My friends!
My wooden almirahs which contributed their might
In this valiant journey with so much of stress and strain
Will just laugh at me for my innocence or ignorance
Or for the true intelligence
I really owe a lot to them all through my life stakes.
