My soliloquy

In how many ways I tried my best
to go fast asleep on my soft mattress
equivalent to the feather bed
I couldn’t however win over


How to get sound sleep?
I inquired with the sea
“How do I know about sleep?
My life always reverberates in high sounds of waves
In midst of so much din how can I define sleep?”
Laughing at me soundless it drew back to its waters

I requested the air to put me up with details
Of various ways to get sleep
It smiled at me waving a cool breeze
“I am always a hard worker with no respite at all
If I take rest and go to sleep
How many on earth will survive there after
Hence your anxiousness in inquiring may draw blank response from me too
Please don’t feel otherwise my dear !
The breathing air responded sincerely to my query


I there after stoutly questioned the sky with accruing anger
The sky replied in the same negative sense
“My life at this higher plane is always busy
With making all needed arrangements for the SUN and MOON
To enable them to perform their duties perfectly
I don’t know the meaning of sleep My beloved!”

After so much of ordeal I faced in inquiring with all of them
I got restless and returned to my bed with dropping eye lids
Defining the ways to go to sleep in sound less symptoms
“Work hard with all the energy you have – sleep will embrace you tightly on its own”
