This technology is actually old hat. I witnessed with amazement its implementation at Epcot Center back in 1985 when I first visited. Down there they have big expensive labs presentable enough that you get in one of their little ride trains and tour the whole lab as you munch on a hot-dog.

some of my lawn is in the shade of a tall hedge but it still grows well. come to think of it, on the other side of my house a very tall hedge shields the farmers potatoes, but they are still doing well. (apart from the drought, that is)
