Ubuntu may be too bloated and slow for some. I'd recommend Arch Linux ( http://archlinux.org ). I've been meaning to switch over permanently to Linux from Windows, but am currently tied to Windows because I need to use Adobe products.
Too bad Adobe doesn't run on Linux. :(
