I managed a score of 120 - 140

This means I'm going downhill because I scored 138 with Mensa about 20 years ago!
Rick
Did you actually pay 9.8 pounds for the result? Well, the high end (140) is a little better than 138, so you are improving! So did you join Mensa?

Hello Rick,

No I didn't pay anything - it's free for the basic test.

Aha, you are so kind in emphasising the upper limit!

However you look at it though, I am , on average, going downhill !!

Worry not, because I am much more interested in being relatively healthy than relatively brainy!

Do you have Alzheimer's?
Hey Hey
Aloysius "Alois" Alzheimer:

He fell ill on the train on the way to the University of Breslau where he had been appointed professor of psychiatry in 1912. Most probably he had a streptococcal infection and subsequent rheumatic fever and kidney failure. He died of heart failure at the age of 51.

He might have been better off with Alzheimer's!!!
Hey Hey

No Rick, but I am anticipating it; hopefully after the experts have come up with a prevention or cure!
Rick
That pathogenic theory leads to hope there.

I remember taking this a little over a year ago and got 169 on my first try. (I think it said the max that its algorithm would spit out was 170; I must not be too good with words methinks smile.gif )

First off, IQ is a controversial 'measure' of 'intelligence.'

Secondly, a free, short, online quiz will not give remotely accurate results. (By the way, what if one didn't know some of the words and so it incorrectly portrayed one's intellect?)

And thirdly, it could (if only slightly) be a marketing technique to give you a feel-good ego booster (higher IQ approximation) which will lead you into buying their 'analysis' so that you can see more of how 'good' you are.

But I did think it was humorous for a bit. I haven't ever gotten a 'real' IQ test, so some of the questions were interesting.

Scoring 169 out of a possible 144 is very impressive!
Tickle's classic IQ test has a maximum IQ value of 144 as reported by Tickle.

Very true.
  • Psychologists still argue over the construct of intelligence
  • Intelligence tests are subject to cultural bias
  • The population sample size is very small beyond SD3, so there is a very small study population
  • Intelligence traits vary significantly in high IQ individuals

That's not particularly true. A short IQ test can have valid results if it's well designed. Of course, there is an inherent loss in reliability as the number of questions decreases. Tickle publishes this data if you're interested. Some psychologist actually spent a lot of time and effort on this test.

Interestingly enough, the average IQ on the test is around 110.

It could be a marketing technique, however it's just as likely that only people of high IQ choose to take the test.

People with lower IQs may not be as inclined to spend 30 minutes taking a silly internet test. People with lower IQs may also no have access to the technology to access the test.

Of course, people with high IQs are much more likely to post the link on a forum so others take it and up the average smile.gif

Same here. I don't believe any current test is valid beyond SD3.

144?? I must be thinking of a different online IQ test, my bad. biggrin.gif (I need to check links out more often tongue.gif)
I'll check out the link tomorrow and see how I do. (And I'll see if I can find that one with max 170 again and post another link.)
