Hi Shawn,
It strikes me that your welcome, as site owner, would be better placed at the top of this message board, irrespective of other messages.
Do you agree?
Could it be arranged?
best regards, Bill.

Hi Shawn,
I worded my message to you very badly !!
My intention was to suggest that your welcome might appear best, always at the top of this BOARD, not the top of this TOPIC. Â

My apologies for the confusion.

Yes, most message boards allow posts to be "stuck" to the top of the board. I'm pretty sure this one can be stuck also, It's a right that administrators always have and I believe it can be given to moderators too.

Hi Goose,
welcome to mind-brain!
Your writing seems advanced for a 14 year old.
Maybe you can give us some guidance on modern thinking - new blood always runs more energetically, so I look forward to what you offer and hope also, that you may learn of some of the pitfalls which may await you as you grow and develop.
Learn to how to identify those roads which lead to a fruitful path; avoid dead-ends and roundabouts, and keep your vision clear!
Do enjoy yourself amongst good friends here; please help where you can and never fear to ask for help; there are many years of experience built into our membership.
You may feel foolish for a moment, but that is better than remaining a fool for the rest of your life.
I am not a preacher, just concerned that you gain from your experience with all members.
Best regards, Bill,

hello jasaljr,
Welcome to Mind-Brain!
If your topic is a new one, click on the Board title which is most likely to cover that topic.
If sub-boards comes up, again click on a board.
Then if the topic already axists, just add your post to it by clicking on 'Add reply'.
If there is no Board covering your topic, go to the 'questions' Board and ask Shawn, the site owner, if he could make a new board.
If there is a suitable Board, just hit 'new topic' near the board top.
If this is not clear, add another post here stating your topic and I will start that topic for you which can then post under.
I will give you the link here for that new topic, so you will see where it is.
I can then delete my 'temporary' post.
We can always move things around to keep the Boards tidy!
Best regards, Bill.

I look forward to further 'chats'; bye for now, Bill.

I dont know, but I think i suffer from some menatl desease or disfunction of some part of the brain. I am not able to have any order in papiers, names, I cannot lead any schedule, its really difficult life, moreover when u live in postcommunist country in eastern Europe. Hello kulik and welcome to Mind-Brain.
I had not heard of piracetam but looked it up on the web. It is a stimulant for the brain. The fact that you felt a bit better after taking it could be the clue that you might have, as you say, a brain disfunction. More particularly you may have a chemical imbalance in your neurotransmitters in your nervous system.
Experimenting on your own can be dangerous and may miss the advantage of experience gained by professionals.
I don't know what medical services are available to you, but if you can see a doctor I think you would be well advised to do so. Take that advice and persevere with different treatments until you find one that suits you [assuming that doctor suspects that you may need help].
Do let us know how you go on, and good hunting!

Hi to everyone!
I'm a Yorkshirewoman by birth, education and temperament, but have lived in Australia for many years. The best thing that happened to me in Australia was a far-sighted government (not, sadly, a recent one!) which made tertiary education fee-free, so I and both my daughters took advantage of that and gained degrees of various sorts.
I write, (poetry and short stories), paint (watercolours), do gold illuminating (as much like The Book of Kells as I can manage); am interested in metaphysics, have been a practicing pagan for many years. I also love word games, word play........I feel at home already!

Hey all
Rune
Mar 31, 2004, 05:35 PM
Shawn, this occured when a Left-wing (Labour) govt. was elected after 23 years of Right-Wing (Liberal) rule. The incoming Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam, was a former academic and concerned at the lack of tertiary education for those who couldn't afford it, but whose abilities warranted it.
His tenure as PM was short, only some 4 years, but he had an enormous effect on Australia; he foreshadowed many of the policies which have since come into effect: Equal Employment Opportunities, paid Maternity Leave, much higher Health and Safety regulations in the workforce....
The free tertiary education policy only lasted about 10 years and was funded, to some extent, by 'selling' education as a commodity to other South East Asian nations........their students paid full fees.. Since then it has gradually been eroded, with contemporary students now graduating with a huge debt. Currently, controversy rages as proposed legislation seeks to ensure that every student pays the full cost of their education, without any Gvt. subsidies, thus leaving them even further behind the 8-ball as they commence their careers.
After leaving politics, Gough Whitlam returned to academia as a Professor at the Australian National University. Now in his late eighties, he's still alive and much in demand as an after-dinner speaker.

Hi. My name is Ryan and I'm pretty new to poetry writing. Here's one of my pieces so please let me know what you think.
I lie here thinking about the world around me,
about the trials and tribulations of the many.
Why should the few have plenty and
the plenty have few? It makes no sense
and yet it is the non-sense that makes
it reality.
Yet as I lie here I am removed from reality
and their pain is mine no more, for I am me
and here I exist in the world I created which makes
me all-powerful, controller of all the many
questions which make no sense.
Then I leave and
even when I vacate my space and
venture out into the harsh world of reality
there is sometimes a residue of that control. A sense
of power that is inherent in all, not just me.
If only we could recognise that we, the many,
are what makes
this world what it is. It is us which makes
the world go round, not the money myth. And
to acknowledge selfishness as the root of our many
failings would help make our reality
a less depressing place to be. For me
this leaves a sense
of hope. There may not be reason to bury our sense
of compassion in the ground… But something makes
me start. Something is wrong, but with me?
No. There is something different here and
I realise my folly. There’s no such place in reality
for these many
dreams. There is but one place that these many
wishes are possible and I was removed from my sense
to miss it. It is here, back in my world, away from reality
where again it is I who makes
the rules. Here, safe in my haven, I can reflect and
think that I am only me
and as there aren’t many of me
I can do little but hope there are others with sense and
that one day unity makes us able to change our reality.

meg, Dejae, kenny and ryan,
Can I take this opportunity to welcome each of you to mind-brain?
I hope you each find that which you seek amongst what is becoming a large family now.
And, Ryan, I encourage you to post your poetry on the poetry pages.
I have written a few myself, though they are not particularly popular and I am no expert. Your work above satisfies what is to me the most important aspect of poetry, ie., content - having something useful to say. However, the purists, whilst accepting that 'poetry' includes any form of writing, will possibly conclude that your work would be better in prose format.
To the future... all, whether reading or writing, may enjoyment and enlightenment ensue [as someone famous once said].
All the best, Bill.

I have been looking for something like this site for ages now, wanting to share and compare ideas, and maybe learn something new-I'm well pleased!I am particularly interested in psychological theories of mind-expansion,how hallucinogenics work(particularly mushrooms),and the psychology of the drug-induced ego-death experience-is there a method?

Great site! I was searching for info for a comparative analysis paper I am doing on Erikson vs Jung, Personality Theories. It was interesting to note that the info is somewhat slanted in Jung's corner, but the info on Erikson was interesting non the less. Anyway, that is how I found this site.
Will make it a "favorite".

Hello everyone. My name is Jericho, I am 26 years old and I'm from Toronto, Canada.
I am one of many whose life has been touched by this giant mental construction of ours called brainmetaDOTcom. I was pointed this way by a co-worker; and of course, nothing happens by accident - so here I am!

So firstly, I think it serve us to have official introductions such as this space; especially for new persons like myself! ... Am looking forward to co-creating with you all.

They did at one time Rick, but I think Shawn wanted the 'key' topics only in the recent list.
Perhaps Shawn will consider two options at some time.
One called 'central (or equivalent word) recent topics', and one called 'extended recent topics'.
