dance of death.
humanity’s salvation attacked with chisel and lime wash
as lammergeyer circle, devouring flesh thru bleeding eyes
unseen whirlpool, gentle suckling of time and terror
dragging you kicking and screaming into a tragic grave
will you gather in the fear and misery of the many dead
or will you tremble unaccompanied at the gates of death
shall you be inclined to cast the dying onto the death carts,
and in one short, sharp sigh, will you turn and leave me too
this tumbling tumbling death dance, a painted marionette
smiling with strings a jumble, jumble, twisted and entwined
will you long for penance at the festal feast, cadaver stooped
or will you die unrequited, caringly clinging to unfilled hope.
