Gas prices are ridiculous. Over where i am living they are about $3.20
and i just heard the Mobil just made a profit of 380billions on oil.
i dont think there is a need for Gas to be the high, those bastards are making
so much money ripping people off!

gossip is unreliable. Competition helps ensure that gas prices remain as low as reasonably possible.

Yea! Poor bastards drilling all day, getting their hands black-oil dirty and on top of that they ran out of ideas where to spend their billions. I truly empathise with them, don't you? I just hope that they don't team up with Al-Kheda one of these days!

....until we (as a global collaberative community) can tap into and harness the vast natural resources of the cosmos (type II and III civilization), we will remain a type 1 (Kaku) civilization and gas prices will continue to sore over the next couple of generations (as an effort to budget our earthly resources for future generation to enjoy - at a cost). The luxuries of the free world are not at all free ---> you wanna play, you gotta pay!

Don't complain about gas prices. I live near the north east coast of England, very close to North Sea gas sources. And I don't get any F**KING gas!!!!!! I have to buy Calor Gas(LPG) and that has always cost a fortune. As I was leaving my last house, gas (North Sea) was brought to the village and in the process of drilling the mains, they cut some cables and exploded very many electrical appliances in my house and others. I was in bed on Saturday morning, watching TV and it caught fire! And my neighbour's washing machine caught fire and burned down their garage. Then I moved and now we have no gas. When the gas company paid up for the lost appliances I was pleased. Then two weeks later we were burgled and they stole most of the new items. The man at the electrical store thought we were weird when we went to buy the same articles for the third time! And you think YOU have problems?!*

the trouble with gas (and other fossil fuels) is that they are finite. OK we all know that, but we should focus more on their use to manufacture materials (e.g. plastics), because when we run out of fossil energy, we also run out of feedstock for materials. (unless recycling becomes very efficient, but it can never be 100% so we would still run out). Hopefully Mars will have supported life in the past and there might be feedstocks there, but it is unlikely. Then where else can we go in the short timescale we have with present fossil fuels. So we must conserve fossil fuels for feedstock and use nuclear and wave/wind (etc) for energy.

Having said that, cows fart so much gas that it affects the atmos. So we could use this gas source to help out. And it's origin is the renewable resource, grass.

Kaku's my hero. I've read most of his popular stuff and a few papers. About ten years ago one of my PhD students bought me Beyond Einstein and I've been hooked ever since. But I've not read Parallel Worlds. This is very recent isn't it? I'll check Audible.com to see if there's a version for my ipod. I daren't buy a hard copy yet as I'm part way through a stack of books and my wife keeps knocking piles over. I really regret retiring early (I'm not THAT old; it was for other reasons) and giving up my office. The floor of my home study is creaking under the load, although I have put a bit of weight on as you can see from the Santa Claus in my avatar.

That would be true if there were free competition. The USA budget contains a 5 billion dollar subsidy to American oil companies for oil exploration. With petroleum at $70 a barrel, a free market would ensure oil exploration, but not with this corrupt regime. It's not too late to buy oil company stocks. There are still two and a half years left in the Bush term.

After inventing Calculus, Sir Issac Newton lost interest in mathematics and in his later life concentrated more and more on Alchemy. Nope he was not at all interested in turning base metals into gold but was fascinated by the latent power in mercury. No one to my knowledge has been able to decipher so far his later writings.
By the way, in Hindu mythology, they had aircraft in remote past and they were powered by Mercury Ion Engines. These aircraft were called Vimaanas .
Legend is that Hindu God Ram waged wars against Atlantis in these planes. Atlantis people were called Andhakas. There are references to Andhakas on the net also.
