Meditation is the big answer to alot of problems. i bet if people who were depressed
meditated their depression would be lower than those who dont meditate.
there all sorts of meditations, Sleeping, meditation with eyes closed but with awake conciousness,
breathing mediation( my favorite) if you focus on you breathing it will distract the mind and therefore
it will calm the mind, relax you and also its proven to increase serotonin levels.
mediation is very amazing it does increase intelligence, dentrites growth, you think more clear,
it lowers anxiety levels. but one of the reasons i meditate is to increase my right and left
communications between the two hemisphres of the brain. How?
if you focus in the spot between your eyes, it will bring more blood flow to the Corpus Callosum
the more you do it the more focus power you will have.
you can notice it when the third eye is maturing, between the eye it will wrinkle up like a piramid(most common) sometimes just one straight line from the base of of the brows to mid point of you forehead.
look at older people their corpus callosum is very mature, and so is mine also.

I to find that breathing as a priciple element in mediation to be the most effective way of meeting ones spiritual and biological needs. Indeed, when ones breathing, over time, is practiced in a rhythm comfortable to that individual, they will infact find themselves in rhythm with all around them; the cosmos, if it does not sound too grand, filtering through them with each inhale and eventual exhale.

Breathing is the most powerful one, when your you focus is on your breathing, this is how you put death to ego, by this type of meditation over time the mind will become so silent that you will have the ability to control your own thoughts, before the mind was like the sea of waves never calm, but now
its like a lake without a ripple.
