AT DAWN

Today I heard a koel at dawn
Singing sweet with musical tunes
Comfortably sitting on our coconut tree
In the wee hours of the day

I wish it is welcoming me
And all others who hear her
To the annals of the coming new day
Hale and healthy


It is not reminding me of
Yesterdays disappointing despair
Nor is preparing to foretell
Tomorrow’s inexplicit fortunes

It is heartily inviting us
To days routine time table
But with new vigour and added energy
I can’t sit idle without appreciating her cordial tone
