Mama's Dream
My mama's dream for me
Was to be what I wanted to be
I didn't need riches or fame
To make my mama proud of me
She raised me to believe
No one gets the best of me
So I'm standing here for all
the world to see
Just how well my mama raised me.

This is just what my Mom dreamed for me as well, and she was proud of me, even though I never had any money or any of the outward trappings of success; she always told me I was a successful person because I was true to myself and had found meaning, and made myself useful putting that meaning to use.
I lost her in 1998 to complications of Parkinson's Disease, but she died proud of me, as I will die proud of her, for even though she was just like me in having no outward trappings of success, she and I both knew she was a very successful person indeed.
I am enjoying your poetry, Lolly; you enrich us.
Respect and solidarity,
