Dance Me Spring
Bursting buds bloom bigger in my weary sight
Some something has intruded on my endless night
I know spring is here now because I can see
Paired-off parrots preening in the tall pecan tree
The click click click of my kind cat's quiet claws
Purrs pointillistic patter on the hard oak floor
He heard the lovebirds scream but knew that it was
Just another sign of spring outside our back door
Where the sky is painted green with rutting birds
Who squawk a poetry beyond these English words
Easter lilies sprout in "the memorial park"
Which is nonetheless "the cemetery" ...after dark
So in the light of spring it seems that life goes on
Dance me spring shine and entrance me to oblivion
