I think that was in What The Bleep... and afterwards the scientist who was quoted as saying that said that wavefunctions are very unstable by themselves; they collapse all the time.
And I have always understood that to mean that the doors can be opened at anytime. Not so.

Hi, Pardon if my question sounds strange.
What school of thought is this statement taken from? QM?
If I'm correct its high level (quantum?) physics. Apparently light travels in both a wave and particle. When you perceive your reality the wave collapses. Or something. 
Read up on high level physics and latest ideas and then go read about Buddhism. I'd recommend a book, The Tao of Physics.

I recommend against the Tao of Physics. Capra has gotten a lot of flack from the physics community over it.
There is no way that a book can be completely correct, as soon as it goes to print it is out of date. The other problem is that you have to use "lies to children" to explain theories that are way beyond the average persons ability to understand.
Comparing physics with Eastern religious thought was always going to cause controversy and scientific flak. I still think its a great book!

Actually, measurements show that light can be wave or particle. But the tools for measurement (and our abilities to comprehend actuality [whatever that is]) are limited. Light is neither wave nor particle.

Yeah I get that, I'm just not very good at articulating myself in this area. All of our measurements are human mental constructs, not the ultimate reality. It seems that our latest theories in physics are very difficult to understand because they break most of our already-formed theories. We have no language for the areas we are now working within, and so we get the wierd description of light being both a particle and a wave.
