All conceptions and perceptions alter reality. Not just your own reality but the fabric of the universe. Better watch your mind from now on ... wink.gif

You are in free fall. If you don't open a door now, it cannot be opened later and you will keep falling. If you open a door now, you will find a new case of stairs leading to the next door.

....yes the observer created reality, collapsing potential wavefunctions.

I think that was in What The Bleep... and afterwards the scientist who was quoted as saying that said that wavefunctions are very unstable by themselves; they collapse all the time.

And I have always understood that to mean that the doors can be opened at anytime. Not so.

Hi, Pardon if my question sounds strange.

What school of thought is this statement taken from? QM?
trojan_libido
If I'm correct its high level (quantum?) physics. Apparently light travels in both a wave and particle. When you perceive your reality the wave collapses. Or something. smile.gif

Read up on high level physics and latest ideas and then go read about Buddhism. I'd recommend a book, The Tao of Physics.
cerebral
I recommend against the Tao of Physics. Capra has gotten a lot of flack from the physics community over it.
trojan_libido
There is no way that a book can be completely correct, as soon as it goes to print it is out of date. The other problem is that you have to use "lies to children" to explain theories that are way beyond the average persons ability to understand.

Comparing physics with Eastern religious thought was always going to cause controversy and scientific flak. I still think its a great book!
Hey Hey

Actually, measurements show that light can be wave or particle. But the tools for measurement (and our abilities to comprehend actuality [whatever that is]) are limited. Light is neither wave nor particle.

Nice, easy info here:

Yeah I get that, I'm just not very good at articulating myself in this area. All of our measurements are human mental constructs, not the ultimate reality. It seems that our latest theories in physics are very difficult to understand because they break most of our already-formed theories. We have no language for the areas we are now working within, and so we get the wierd description of light being both a particle and a wave.

I write code and have nothing to do with physics, so be gentle smile.gif
