Lone Wolf

Over the course of our lives we make choices
Based on what is what could be and might have been
What both external and internal voices
Have to say on the way and what these things mean
In terms of our emerging destiny here
And hereafter balancing boldness with fear
Action reaction hope and hesitation
Most of all we are just trying to get by
Our ups and downs middled by mitigation
Trying to live all we can before we die

I have always dreamed of being one of those
Misfit souls who manages to be unique
I could feel I was born for this so I chose
To follow my nose no matter what and seek
To avoid becoming a cog in the wheel
At all costs and yes it has cost me dearly
But my life is meaningful honest and real
I have developed insight to see clearly
Through the masks and facades of society
Which while they fool others will never fool me
