The Sum Of Love Recounted
Look upon Me.
My living eyes
tell of time not lost,
but of glory and grace
beyond understanding.
Look upon My teeth,
unbroken, perfect stewards
of the spoken truth.
Taste the blood
that was shed from
swollen nostrils,
stinging eyes,
and innocent lips.
This do in remembrance of Me.
I bent upon the altar
of a desperate courtyard for you
at the hands of perfect priests.
Put your hands upon my back.
Feel me.
My tongue rested
while thorned crown
was beaten into place
by lost souls.
Put your hands upon my brow.
Feel me.
I walked alone
under the weight of all men
while the fists and spit
of brethren found my
labored passing.
Do you not see me now?
I have made all things new.
Salvation, My only answer
when nails split flesh and bone
of hands that held no weapon
and feet that trespassed not.
Feel me.
Put your hands upon these hands.
Put your hands upon these feet.
Place your hand upon my side
where the spear fulfilled
the prophecy of your salvation.
Steadied guards wept at the foot of my cross.
Oh, how they ever wept and proclaimed upon
the shaking ground that truly they’d slain
The Son of God, Your Way, Your Light,
Your Only Salvation.
Yet, in doing so, I was not slain but reborn
to take My rightful place at the side of My Father
having paid a price beyond measure
for your eternal Life,
that which you cannot earn.
Believe because you have seen,
yet know that blessed are My children
who believe yet have not seen,
and have not touched
the very marks, the very body,
the very blood of your salvation.
And, as My body has risen,
resurrected to walk in new life
as an unbroken testament
to my Father’s grace
truly I sing to all of you,
"I love you this much."
