theres a good program called subliminal mind that will flash messeges on your computer screen while you do other things on it. the flash speed and messeges are customizable.

http://www.bio-health.com.au/subliminal.htm

i also have embedded sublimals in music myself, and experimented with voice acceleration.

my trial copy of subliminal mind has expired and i havent bothered much with subliminals anymore

some studies show the sucess of subliminals in some limited ways, for instance audiences exposed to suggestions to get coke and popcorn got more of it than control group. those are just simple suggestions to crave something easy to get .. trying to program thoughts and emotions is another thing. i am skeptical of subliminals being able to improve life significantly and inconclusive if they are of any value or not.

Advertisements and even the GOP have used flash subliminals, for more info on this, see: http://www.subliminalsex.com/

mm well it really depends on how deep you want to get into it, your really on the tip of ice berg here tone. Their is alot more advanced methods that can be used to manipulate, influence and change. Many are listed in frequency effects, also other methods include combining several to make a greater influence eg. You see a commercial, you get subliminal visual and auditory through the usual methods, along with that is a visual binaural beat to increase suggestablility. Now you listen to some lady talk, she is speaking using the milton model and further increases suggestablility. Along with that she drops key words like new or free to increase your attention to the commercial. with this she is wearing some suggestive clothing as they are targeting 14-23 males. Now you have them create dissonance with some metaphor to allow for a self examination that can be put into a 3 second phrase. This is also only the tip of ice berg the level of manipulation possible can be scary at times but knowning these things helps us to defend against them ^.=

I've always been fascinated by this topic, although I've often heard that if you really want to get a message across, you'd do a better job with conscious, supraliminal messages.

AS FOR THE WEBSITE MENTIONED ABOVE, MY HEARTFELT ADVICE: Maybe you might want to think twice.

HERE'S MY ADVENTURE:
Curiosity got the best of me. I clicked the URL in the first post of this thread (http://www. bio-health.com.au/subliminal.htm). The website shows an example of a (not so) subliminal message within a picture but scant information about the download or what it does for you. I was thinking, 30 free days, what the heck, I went ahead and downloaded. The first thing I got was an unwanted and worrisome icon in my lower taskbar. My concern was that I had one of those undelete-able programs that fires up right along with windows. Hmmm...but that would be ridiculous for this type of thing...or so I thought. I clicked on the icon, and the new window had a list of items with checkboxes--things like "happiness," "weight loss," "depression," "self confidence," etc. You could do your own test with a little timer to make your selected message flash on the screen faster and faster--until it disappeared from conscious detection. I still could see it every once in a while, though. You could also control the flash interval rate. Anyway, I checked the "happiness" box and got a flashing message that said, (paraphrasing), "You're Good Enough, You're Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like You!" I decided to go with that one for now, thinking I could modify it later at my discretion. To my dismay, the screen disappeared, and then all of my OWN windows began kind of "hiccupping." What the heck? Sure enough, every once in a while, I could see my fleeting happy message pop up. I guess it was "working", but this wasn't what I wanted AT ALL! *I* want to adjust the picture. *I* want to control the transmission. I attempted to do just that by once again clicking my new taskbar icon. But NOW all I got was a "drive-by" of the controlling screen, nary to be used again. The screen popped on and off in a flash--at the same rate as my "happiness" message. I was not happy.

Okay, time to delete this piece of...work. Since I couldn't get into anything the conventional way, via the software, I went to the files themselves. I didn't see an uninstall executable (of course), so I commenced to deleting the files myself. A few of them went away, but a couple were of the "you can't delete this, you're IN it, dummy" variety. Concerns confirmed. WHY the interactive entanglement for THIS particular software? This is not good.

Okay, so I rebooted and was able to delete some resistant files with DOS. Unfortunately, some others that weren't apparent when I was DOS-deleting showed up when I got back into Windows. AND I COULN'T DELETE THEM. At this point, I did see an "uninstall." Where was it when I needed it? I tried it out just for fun, and it didn't work. (Surprise) I finally said to hell with it and did a restore. Here's the kicker. I did a final file search on "subliminal" when I got back in, and two files came up that weren't showing up before but had been created this afternoon when I downloaded (today's date). One had an innocuous name, but the other one was called "subliminalsex." Thankfully, I was able to delete both of these remaining files.

Maybe someone else will have a better experience. I hope so. It was probably just me... (This was edited to end on a positive note, plus I tweaked a couple of other things. I was kind of frustrated earlier...)

O by the way, i should hacve mentioned the default messeges on that program are worded wrong, you cant use double negatives. for instance, change "I have no fear" into "i am courageous"

HMm i had no problems with it, sorry

Hey, Tone, no need to apologize...I really wasn't blaming you--I was frustrated with the makers of that software and trying to warn others. I do worry about viruses and such. I think I'll delete the last sentence of my post, which sounds kind of harsh on a re-read. It could be that my set-up wasn't compatible, though that one file makes me kind of leery. Take care.
