Askew
What loveable smiles redeem the mishapen cries in the night you made?
A careless laugh and an overun bath, forgiveness at the tip of a blade,

Warm oceans of lies that stretch evermore through the hole in my heart
And a bitter red tide of opening doors to see perfection torn apart.

What sweet lulling lie could you tell to me now?
What songs could close my eyes?
The pictures of God that you put on my wall
And the messages I despise.

Stars and death and taxes far behind to me look small,
And what I can see though blind is the writing on the wall

Betrayal cuts deep, but this day is my last
No moment wasted on dull bitter past

The black in my window, the cat on the floor
The bottle now spilled, the men at the door.

And a smile that creeps unbidden,
And a secret so forbidden
And forgiveness freely given

I bow and leave this Kingdom.

Hi Askew, and welcome among us.

I really like this poem of yours; I love those long couplets and the rhythm throughout, like an ebbing heartbeat. My tastes are a little dark, yeah, but I love the subject matter and your execution of it.

Good stuff; and again, welcome. I look forward to reading more.

Respect and solidarity,

+Stevie
