new places, new people
wish we could stay longer
but the journey continues
flying to skyscraper castles
id like to arrange my desk near the window
near where i feed the swans with cream filled biscuits
i guess its the thing to do after defeating bat demons
and lying dragons in the dark playing chasing games
the flowers of the greek woman with rainbow hair
have all reached a degree of three or four
ill be just as careful when i plant my own
the neighbours husband has betrayed his wife again
that chanel dress on that lady seems superfluous
and it is making her unhappy
i think we can build in a funny scene with papayas
it sure is hot in the jungle
maybe we should leave again tomorrow
+Steven Curtis Lance
Any scene with papayas has great potential to be funny, I think; I find the very idea of papayas--and mangoes--to be inherently comedic, if tasty (and nutritive). I remember a long time ago I wore contact lenses and cleaned them with enzymatic cleaner derived from papayas, and people with grumbly tummies eat papayas for the sake of their disturbed digestion.

But never mind papayas, I love the cream filled biscuits and the Chanel dress, even in its superfluity; I love the whole jungle of it all which is your poem, a delightful stream of consciousness which reminds me of the way I think, actually. I think we think alike, come to think of it.

I have been thinking a lot about thinking lately, about thinking freely, in an unfettered way in which the unconscious is given free rein, letting the horse of consciousness take me where it will. I believe that my thinking is freer of late, and that this freedom is helping my poetic expression; I observe here that it is helping yours.

Thank you, dear Franziska, for this poem, this magical journey; I find it to be refreshing and colorful, good and healthy exercise for the mind, as well as fun: "the journey continues."

And most of all: H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y ! The big 2 - 0 is only a day away now!

I am so proud to have known you these years, and to know you now, at this milestone moment in your life. I wish you all the love and luck and every good thing in the world, on your birthday and always.

Speaking of always, here is a favorite quotation of mine especially for your birthday:

"Remember tonight, for it is the beginning of always." - Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) Italian Epic Poet, Philosopher
