Also note David Batchelor's excellent book "Chromophobia".

"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."

In other words, bad energy=bad emotions, good energy=good emotions. Is this really helpful?
Rick
I like color, so I must have good emotions.

Which colours?

Which frequency of those colours?

Visual energy stimulates and collapses various neurochemical activity both positively (positive charge) and negatively (negative charge).

Colourless Whiteness - the great white hallow....

Colour is bound up with the fate of western culture. "In the west, since antiquity, colour has been systematically marginalized, reviled, diminished and degraded."

Generations of philosophers, artists, art historians, and cultural theorists of one stripe or another have kept this prejudice alive, warm, fed, and groomed. The loathing of colour and the fear of corruption through colour, Chromophobia.

Attempts to purge colour from culture, to devalue colour, to diminish its significance, to deny its complexity.

This is accomplished in two ways:

1. colour is made out to be the property of some 'foreign body' - usually the feminine, the oriental, the primitive, the infantile, the vulgar, the queer, or the pathological. Alien and dangerous.

2. Colour is relegated to the realm of the superficial, the suplementary, the inessential, and the cosmetic. It is perceived merely as a secondary quality of experience, and thus unworthy of serious consideration.

Also, try reading Erwin A Abbot's 'Flatland'.

Which colors? I like them all. My favorite color is blue in the daytime and red at night. Black is a color too.

I've read Flatland. Those creatures are really two-and-a-half dimensions (they have thickness), but they don't know it.

Black is all potential colours collapsed.

White is the absence of all colour.

Charles Blanc - critic, colour theorist from 1848 France.

-he identified colour with the 'feminine in art'.
-he asserted the need to subordinate colour to the 'masculine' discipline of design or drawing.

The typical reaction of phobics is a mass over evaluation of the power of that which is feared.

Colour signifies the mythical savage state out of which civilization, the nobility of the human spirit, slowly, heroically, has`lifted itself - but back into which it could always slide.

Colour is coded in the feminine.
Colour is coded in the primitive.
Colour is corruption, a lapse, a fall.

Stories of descent into colour are stories of a fall from grace.

It's the other way around for light. White light consists of all colors. Black is the absence of colors.
