Silence Between

I learned and remember
Desire comes to nothing
In May or December
Desire is suffering

I wash my clothes out in the sink
And I
Hang them on the apricot tree
To dry

Under the cold clear winter sun
I read and write I pray and think
Cook a bowl of brown rice each day
My heart belongs to everyone
Yet no one and find this my way
To live in solidarity
With all the world when day is done

Alone
With my cat I craft poetry
Unknown
But by a certain chosen few
As I agree and disagree
With everyone and none so you
Can be with me yet still be free

No one belongs to anyone

I fast
And yet I feast upon the universe
My life could be no better and no worse
At last

I learned I remember
Desire comes to nothing
In May or December
Desire is suffering

From silence we rise to silence we fall
Silence between is solace after all
