Simple Pleasures Shared

Violet incense and rose petal tea
New issues of Vanity Fair
Full-color-dust-jacket-bound poetry
Glenn Gould sparkling Bach on the air
Ravens stalk scolding parrots soar squawking
Sparrows just stay out of their way
Those green hummingbirds hushed us from talking
As if we saw fairies today
Cats are sleepy but then they always are

Then I know just what I will say:

"I will polish you my gem from afar"
And we can wash the car today
But first there will be flirting and squirting
With the hose heaven knows and sun
Lots of love scads of suds and fun
Wear your car-washing duds or none at all
If naked stand behind the old Chrysler
No one will see you (you're not very tall)
Then jump out and wave at Pastor Geisler
