In Plaza Square
Come see me and step out to take the air
With me and we will see what we can see
Downtown by the fountain in Plaza Square
While parrots squawk in squadrons lustily
In ragged green ranks through the bright blue sky
As sparrows flit close to where you and I
Stick curious noses into sweet roses
Fat ravens will watch us mysteriously
From the branches of that old tulip tree
Which first bloomed on Eleven November
Of Nineteen-Eighteen so I remember
My Grandma telling me when Uncle Lee
Could come back home from the Great War at last
At night the fountain turns romantic blue
The future blooms here from buds of the past
A future I would love to spend with you
Come with me and I will read poetry
At Starbucks to earn us some free coffee
There on the square and I will brush your hair
And kiss your sweet brown skin sweet as toffee
All over everywhere nor will we care
What time or day it is or anything
And then to the shops for that perfect ring
You and me there at home in Plaza Square
