Other lives relived, we herd unruly

Children to the buckled seat behind us
Hectic traffic glares our staring -- newly
Reddened eyes betray our duty's' kindness
In the fields' oasis 'neath frigid nights' sky
Shrieks cajole our weary chuckled pausing
To the woods a-lined with spruces and pine
Many hulk and list, their shadows crossing
As we feel our tread along circled paths
Soundlessly, our tree awaits us, leaning

To the touch of mittened hands, we grasp
Realizing dreams, we lift our meaning
Even decked with baubled heirlooms' glisten
Every bough silenced our hearts to listen
