NO ONE SAW
Heaviness,
Suddenly,
Sinking into blackness,
Drooping smiles,
Endless sadness,
Losing me,
In a haze,
Slowly,
Spirit’s dying,
I can no longer fight,
And so I slip,
I trip,
I fall,
And no one ever saw it coming at all…

NAKED BRANCHES
We are snow on naked branches,
Shivering in icy winds,
Harsh winters eating away hollows in our souls,
And squeezing blood from our veins,
Until we are dry and breakable,
Crumbling beneath unkind hands.

Mandy, these poems are truly word-jewelry, with every word a precious stone in precisely the appropriate setting. Each word represents so much, in a fascinating compression of scale. You achieve here what people try to do with haiku. Both poems are vivid and visual, evocative and stimulating to the senses.
Over the years we observe the passing of seasons in our members here together in this circle of ours, we mark the growth and change of one another. You have grown, are growing; I celebrate you in this.
Thank you, Mandy. Respect and solidarity, my friend and fellow poet!
Love, always,
+Stevie

Love your poetry mandy.
And whilst it is all enjoyable and flows beautifully, the one line which really caught the focus of my attention was :-
"And no one ever saw it coming at all..."
Your recognition of the way we are able to hide really important feelings from family and friends (a truly amazing feat), is captured and effectively emphasised as the last line.
This feature of our behaviour is worthy of a poem itself - we cannot allow ourselves to have to say things we cannot bear to say! But it seems to be done by an internal (non-conscious) force rather than by a desire of will.

Thank you rhymer. You are right I think it is a non-conscious reflex of sorts. After all, do any of us really want anyone to fully know how we feel? I mean we say we do, but let's be realistic sometimes you just want to keep deep feelings to yourself, for whatever reason.
