Kindness at the Fall

When everyone has gone out of their mind
Society has lost civility
All that is left to us is to be kind
That we not be part of the cruelty

When everyone else has gone dumb and blind
Let us have civil tongues clear eyes to see
Let us be human let us be humane
And rising above the brutality
Of the age vow never to inflict pain

Let kindness begin with you and with me

When everyone else thinks only of gain
Instead let us share with those who know loss
Though we have little some have none at all
Turning aside from the dust and the dross
Of overripe decadence doomed to fall

The fall is coming: let us not fall too
I want to struggle toward the light with you
