A Teachable Moment of Clarity
Having long striven having been driven
To amount to something now I stand at
The crossroads of a teachable moment
This is a time in which fate would foment
Change to rearrange my reality
And now fate is doing precisely that
It is in the darkness I learn to see
At dusk I learn to hope for coming dawn
In winter I appreciate the spring
And see the light brightest when it is gone
Now fate offers me a challenge to grow
To seek and find the all in everything
And learn the more I know the less I know
To taste of the joy of simply being
And experience the peace of seeing
Not through rose-colored glasses nor through black
Embracing what I have not what I lack
A teachable moment of clarity
It is not too late for this gift of fate:
I rise now to my higher destiny

"It is in the darkness I learn to see
At dusk I learn to hope for coming dawn
In winter I appreciate the spring
And see the light brightest when it is gone..."
This is absolutely beautiful Stevie! It is always a joy to read your words.

Thanks so much for your support and encouragement, Mandy!
I have a new project in the works right now which I am calling The Little Book of Lance, and this poem will be the Epilogue. The Prologue will be the poem, nearby on this page, called Outside. Between these two will be my seventy-one latest poems, just the ones since my latest full-length book, New Poems. The Little Book of Lance will be a slim and svelte little introduction to my work, with a concomitantly slim and svelte price. I hope to make some new friends through this project, and I think those who already know me will enjoy it.
That's what I've been up to lately, working on that. I'm so glad you like this poem, as it will be "the last word" in The Little Book of Lance.
I hope you're having a good summer.
Love and greetings from The OC,
+Stevie
