Starlight
Here I am and there you are
Too far away some would say
Looking up at this same star
I see it another way:
This star shines for you and me
Lending starlit unity
To this night which we both share
Transcendental by starlight
You are here as I am there
No one is closer tonight
You to me as I to you
Star-connected two by two
By this pure diamond light
This is why they have those rings
By which some would seek to bind
Stars by diamonds but find
That "as above so below"
Does not mean that earthbound things
Backward bind the sky and so:
In the heart not on the hand
Promises are made which stand
In the sky where you and I
Share this diamond as we
Living that which cannot die
Sparkle for eternity
