Transcendental Sonnet #1408:
I Too Am an American

Do you think if you threaten me
Then frightened I will speak no more?
It should not be that easy for
Mongers of fear who will not hear

Though I am small though I am poor
I am not squelched so easily
By you and your gospel of fear
Nor anyone under the sun

You think I am under your gun?
No! I will speak as I see fit
And finish what I have begun
I suggest you get used to it

Save your threats intolerant man:
I too am an American
