Transcendental Sonnet #1404:
Saturday Sad Smile

My young friends speak of battle
Of warfare of the spirit
I see they are not cattle
And so I smile to hear it

Armed only with my wounds though
The passion of poetry
They know well I do not know
And that is enough for me

I have embraced this and that
Through the years and through the tears
Now I just embrace my cat
With a sad smile face my fears

Only poetry and pain
As the world turns round again

sometimes we need to live a lifetime of sweating blood to live a lifetime of absolute freedom

as two parted lovers die one butterfly pair rises from the grave
if the family cannot be together in this life it will be in the next

in faith,

Stevie,

Such truth and beauty in your words. I can relate to a lot of what you write. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone either. Sometimes I do wonder about that "Am I the only one that feels this way?" "I would rather be with someone than alone" Many thoughts swirling deep within the mind. Your poetry brings me joy and comfort and for that I am truly grateful. It seems to me you are getting stronger as time goes by. I am very happy for that. I am proud we did not lose you in the months before now. You are a grand soul Steven and a blessing to mother Earth. Thanks again for all of your support and guidance and most of all you lovely friendship here. Never forget that people love you, even if you can't wrap your arms around it.

Love always,
Nikki

At times you really are my hero Steven, thanks again. It is good to know that we can speak of life and love and have people connect with the notion or the feeling.

I am profoundly honored and grateful.

Thank you Franziska and Nikki, and thank you Punctilio for calling Nikki's beautiful words to my attention again.

I care deeply about people and poetry, about our poetry community which we have built here since we began it at the beginning of 2003, and about you and your sharing of your heart here on this page.

I will continue to do anything and everything I can to be of service.

Love,

+Stevie

That is exactly what I mean Stevie. Poetic souls make the world go round and if we weren't here the beauty of the Earth would fade. It is important that we all stand together and support one another. We all seem to do a good job of that here. Thanks again for everything.

Nikki
