Memories disguised as shadows
Beneath my heavy lidded eyes
Traumatized my waking dreams
Until I finally cried myself to sleep last night

Convenient excuses found your lips
And I found my heart
Lodged in my throat
When your words caught up to my ears

I coughed
Passing it off as allergies
Rather than an excuse to clear
The tears from my voice

I fed you the lines
You wanted to hear
And hung up the phone
Feeling like I had sold my soul

But it's probably best this way
You already have my heart
And now the complete box set
Unknown
Interesting but you still have to work on your writing-skills....
selina
a-hem..... I trust you have heard of prose....because you know.... it is prose.

but... thanks??

The strength of criticism lies in the weakness of the thing criticized.......
selina
but you see... this is not the poetry critique board. I appreciate constructive critisism, had I asked for it.

but in the spirit of criticism, being more specific in your critique would be more helpful as apposed to a generic reply...and where are your poems? Perhaps you should register so we can get to know you??

I mean no malace in this, by the way, but I didn't ask for a critique... I just wanted to get it out. Surely you understand that.

Blessed be.... -unknown-

I like it too, Selina, and *welcome back!* I am so happy to see you here among us again!

I have been ill and not around as much as I would like, but I just came here and saw your poems and was so pleased to find you here.

I am so sorry you had to be met the way you were. You should see what the Unknowns say about my own work! You probably remember (they do NOT much care for it).

In any case, good to see you. Stick around! We need more like you; more Knowns and fewer Unknowns (of a certain kind); you are most definitely Known and Loved.

Love (see what I mean?),

Selina,

Way to stand up for yourself. I am very impressed by that. I admire someone that fights for what is true and correct. Rock on!!!

Thanks so much for aiding me in this! I hope to get to know you better, Nikki, as you seem like good people to me. Plus, Steven likes you... so you can't be that bad. smile.gif There are some things I don't mind having critiqued, but others... just leave my thoughts the way they are! tongue.gif

Oh, Steven, I missed you and so many others. I lost the bookmark to this site and I couldn;t remember the site's address! I had to do a google search for +steven curtis lance hoping to find something linking you to this site! It took many O's in the Google search for success, but victory is finally mine!

I missed this board. There are so many new people and I feel like I am finally in a good place to where I can bleed myeslf onto paper again. I have many I need to post.
My husband and I just celebrated our one year anniversary, so things are good... with life getting in the way of my good times. Oh well, you'll have that I suppose.

Unknowns are nasty little bastards, aren;t they? Well... the nasty bastard ones are...

I look forward to finding my room here at home among the poetry board again!

Blessed be, friend!
Hey Hey
in no way should this board be treated as a critique board. without making any remarks about your poem Sellina, your comment "I just wanted to get it out" is one of the important reasons for this board. maybe Unknown's opinion here was simply due to a misunderstanding of the nature of this particular board. please keep posting your poetry, Sellina. and please keep reading, Unknown.... but be kind.

Selina,

I know how you mean. If you ask for someones opinion it is one thing, but to have it thrown at you with no cause is completely different. I wrote a poem for my friends upcoming wedding and asked another friend if she liked it. She gave me some honest advice and I could see where she was coming from. I reworked it and showed it to her again and she loved it. The thing unknowns need to keep in mind is that poetry is expression of self and doesn't have to follow cookie cutter ideals. Keep up the splendid work my dear. You are well liked here.

Nikki

Oh, by the way. Pleasure to meet you.
