FIRST TO GO
I guess I thought
I’d be the first to go,
The first to walk,
The first to show,
I never believed
You’d cause these tears to fall,
I’ve been priding myself on my strength,
But I’ve become weak,
A heart can only last so long,
And a body fed by lies,
Will eventually die.

I know what you mean... I never dreamed I would be rejected as I have been; it was more than once by more than one person, and it was always the most tremendous and terrible surprise imaginable. I was the last to know. I don't know whether I couldn't see because I was too close, or what, but it was always a terrible surprise, like something blowing up in my face. Now I'm afraid I've come to expect it, and that's not good either!
In any case, I love your poem, because you write well of something I feel too.
Thanks for writing and sharing your feelings with such skill and grace.
Respect and solidarity, dear friend and fellow poet.
Love,
+Stevie

Hey Thanks,
I don't even know what compelled me to write it, I guess I got nervous about my current relationship and I thought about how I would feel if he walked. But, I'm glad I wrote something that others can relate too.
