Transcendental Sonnet #1354:
Good Company

the Earl and me

Come the morning and come what may
With one sweet spot of bergamot
Trouble noli me tangere
Catastrophe can touch me not
With one hot teacup of Earl Grey
Judiciously applied to me
I have invincibility

The stiffer stuff down at Starbucks
Even tempered with hazelnut
Goes down like hot tar and then mucks
Rather harshly about with me
They can keep it as I have tea
Always proper no matter what:
Have tea and keep good company

Hey Hey
the bergamot plants have delicious flowers despite being so pervasive

tea, ah, the elixer of life

I read recently that cities resulted because of tea. such aggregations of large numbers could only be sustained by uncontaminated water. of course boiling water for tea kills pathogens. as you know beer has similar advantages and in the middle ages even children used to consume several pints each day!

Quite right about cities; fascinatingly, beer may have played a great role in the rise of ancient Egyptian civilization.

I do love bergamot. I have had all kinds of tea from everywhere, but there's nothing quite like that "one sweet spot of bergamot" in Earl Grey, to my taste.

My research for this sonnet continues! Time for more tea!

Thank you so much for being such a great friend and moderator.

Love,

+Stevie
