COMPANIONS
My brother and I,
Companions of this moonlit sky,
Unable to let sleep drift over our eyes,
We walk, and we talk,
About things that don’t matter
So much of it dreamless chatter,
Never do we discover
Anything true about life,
Anything deep or bright,
We just stroll,
We count the stars
Like we count the hours,
As we wait for the sun to rise,
And it’s brilliance to assault our eyes,
My brother and I,
Companions of this sunlit sky.
