Note: Solidago is a healing herb, if that helps understand this poem, it's quite old I wrote it in high school, but it remains one of my favorites, I will be your Solidago.
SOLIDAGO
I値l help heal your pain,
I値l mend your wounds,
I値l protect you from a cruel world.
You can take my hand, together we will
Fight this desperate fight, side by side, we値l carry the stars.
Solidago...
Solidago...
Though your wings are broken
And your soul heavy with unfallen tears,
I will hold your heart in my hand,
Until the smile of long ago has returned.
Solidago...
Solidago...
Beautiful angel, don稚 you fret any more,
Your wings are strong; I won稚 let you fall,
Your path is also mine, the soul that which we share
Has bled before, it held fast then, it will hold again,
Through dark and day, through sorrow and play,
I am as I have always been, here with you, in your
Heart, in your mind, always kind
Solidago...
Solidago...
I値l mend the broken past
Encase your tears with gold,
I値l build a bridge between two shores,
You of then, and you of now,
I値l help you take down this wall of sorrow
And let the shining world inside
No more tears shall you shed
Solidago...
Solidago...

This really IS a good one, Manders; I'm glad you bumped it up to the top.
I thought I knew a lot about herbs, but I am just learning now about solidago, from you. What a wonderful word, and it makes a great refrain for your poem. I'm going to go look it up now; my curiosity is aroused.
Thanks for sharing this, and for calling our attention to it.
Love,

And your soul heavy with unfallen tears,
I will hold your heart in my hand,
"very sympathetic treat" to say in a word

Thanks everybody, another fun fact about this poem is that if you have a computer that can read text aloud, and you make the default voice Michael it sounds so pretty. (I was bored one day

I was reading up on solidago and I was delighted to find that it comes from the same root--O serendipitous pun!--as the word "solidarity," which makes the herb's name as the refrain of your poem absolutely perfect.
That is the key, both to this poem and to our lives--which, despite our best efforts to the contrary, it would seem--are not lived in a vacuum nor alone, but always in the company of others.
Thank you for this! There is indeed healing here.
Respect and solidarity,
Solidago...

You know how I got the idea for this poem?
I used to, everyday, look up a word in a thesaurus and try to write something using that word. Solidago was one of the words I happened across, by closing my eyes and pointing. Who knew that could actually be benificial? I should start doing that again, it was fun!
