TWENTY-EIGHT
I took a test today,
To see what age it would say,
It tells me I act like I’m
Twenty-Eight
Because I watch CSI,
And eat crème Brule’.
My birthday is on November
Twenty-Eight,
My ten year reunion not a moment to late,
When I’ve turned
Twenty-Eight.
Almost thirty, they say I act,
But they don’t know that
I still play pop star,
And jump on my bed.
Twenty-Eight,
Yeah, more like eight.

I 've always enjoyed those tests. I graduated from Concordia back when they were testing everybody for everything; I took about every test which must have been in existence back then. I do remember taking this one, but I don't remember what my mental age was. I bet it would be younger now, with my recently acquired passion for punk rock. I love Smash, by The Offspring ("Killboy Powerhead"!), so much. And AFI, and Peter and the Test Tube Babies; my fourteen year-old son Teddy turns me on to wonderful new things all the time, and it is a passion I genuinely share with him. My older kids have more subtle tastes in music, but my youngest and I are hardcore punks.
I love your poetry, Mandy. Thanks so much for being such an important part of our poetry board. I always enjoy your work, and I can always relate to it.
Love,
+Stevie

All fabulous bands, at least that's what I think, I love punk-rock, alternative, heavy, classic, I'm a huge wannabe punk.

Oh! I forgot The Distillers, Coral Fang!
I love that one too; I'm listening to it right now, the first song, "Drain the Blood." Good stuff.
There's an Offspring song, "Self Esteem," on Smash, which speaks eloquently to my recent relationship-nightmare. I love to listen to that one really slammin' loud.
Punk has just been incredibly therapeutic for me.
Love,
