As I was taking in the rapid increase of members; I realized i dont know who many of these people are.
Last night i was sitting thinking of a way that i could easliy perhaps find out about me... so i have an idea.
If we were to creat a "welcome hut" of somesort... a place for people to just say Hey this is me, and tell a bit about themselves so that it doesnt get as ... Jumbled in the general section.  
I feel this might also be more inviting for people to compunicate other than the small "hello how are you's" and better this community experience, its just a thought,
Perhaps sleep on it?...

I know Dara and I would love a star background.  This present background reminds me of Voicesnet, the cruel narrowness of which once broke my heart, and broke the hearts of many.  

Stars sound great to me! I absolutely LOVE teh sky at night,a nd I think it would be nice to have the stars here too!

hmmm..... what do other ppl think about having a Speech Board?   Does Speech deserve a separate board or is it better to use the existing boards for posting speeches?  If there's a speech board, who else who use it?

hi Lori, I never followed the Yankees, or really any sports for that matter... just never really got into being a spectator or sports fan for various reasons, and in fact, always tried to keep myself pleasantly insulated from these and other distractions...... of course, I'm not being critical of sports fans in any way.  It's just not my cup of tea  :)

What about posting speeches in the short story or creativity forums! Or even in the general forum! I think it would be real good to get some more posts in those forums, especially the vreativity and short story forums. Maybe this could be the way!

Just my opinion of course, take it for what it's worth!

Speeches....great idea to include them in as Dara said....the general board short stories etc..This would help to broaden the array of topics....I used to take public speaking in college and also an Ethic class maybe we could intertwine the two or something I know debates about certain issues especially controversial ones can spark good conversations...Just a thought of course! whatever youd ecide Shawn is fine with all of us I am sure

How about a Books board to discuss/review any new or favourite books (both fiction and non-fiction)?

The Poetry Board is now big and I wondered, since we all have different preferences, if it would be sensible to list poetry by authors, (rather than/as well) as by date.

This would allow readers to see all the poetry of one author at a time, and authors to see what poetry they have already posted.

Just an idea (that would help me a lot).

I think having a Books Board is a great idea!  The board has been created with you moderating.   If anyone else would like to co-moderate, please let me know.  Thank you, ID, for the suggestion.

Bill, I also think your idea for listing poems by author is a great one too, and I thank you for it.  It's will not be a trivial thing to do though.  I'll have to play around with the forum code (written in perl) a little.   But let me see what I can do in the coming days.   I'll try, but I can't guarantee anything yet.

I think this is an excellent idea.
I have no problem - I scoot off to my doctor whenever I suspect anything might be afoot (or a-brain), but I know many friends who are really afraid of talking to their doctor.

At least, bearing in mind bad or false information, there might be some website links that could be listed for sites of a professional and sympathetic nature, that could be made available on this site.

I have been visiting www.forumchat.net which has been sent to several members on this site...
A thing I like about it is that you can choose different skins/layout of the site to ones taste.....

It would be quite fun for our members to choose a 'gothic-mind brain' Skin ~for example (say a black brain with blood oozing out *whatever) or a 'Space mind-brain' holding stars and planets..  

You could add all sorts of functions- during summer you could place a small sun somewhere along the mind-brain title, at christmas you could place some mistletoe along it.. like yahoo

Let me now what you think about this and if I can help I would be glad to- we can both brainstorm for ideas, we can all brainstorm for ideas..

I think that's a really great idea, Franziska.   Letting visitors choose skins for mind-brain.com is something I'd really like to implement soon.    There are a few technical hurdles to clear, but this shouldn't be a problem.    

More generally, I'm currently in the process of converting mind-brain.com from mainly static html-based to PHP, which will make mind-brain.com much more dynamic and interactive than it is now, and which will also allow me to manage this site much better and more easily add content.  I'm looking forward to unveiling these changes soon.

I haven't really made any forum changes these past weeks other than adding personal full member boards (last week), streamlining the forum code so that pages load faster (today), and making the Fast Reply text box bigger (today). And so I was wondering, if anyone has any ideas for forum improvements, please let me know. I already have one idea which is to implement forum skins. But give me more ideas if you can. What other features would you like to see added to the forum?
