SHE CAW GU[CHICAGO]
#######
Between the sand and heartland
you deserve a throne much above the azure skies

over and above the gry smokes of orange flames
you stand erect reaching to the new heights of Sears towers
the undaunted spirits made you to grow and glow
resurrecting from the hopes of burnt down ashes

I love you and i love your pride and privilege more and more
you are now a city of trade city of wealth city of joy
city in lime light city of delight and city of ecstacy
city enlightened in cosmopolitan culture and brotherhood primes

your togetherness in mind made you so great and of large grace
your soul resembling the widened silky roadways
your fragrance is sweet smelling as a garden of flower shows
your musical talents are visible as city of jazz , cinemas, dance
and the art and culture streaming through your heart flowing like clear lake waters

you are the epitome where *swamy vivekananda voiced his concern for religious emity
the dawns buzz with busy trade and commerce links
the dusks swoon to the castles of casino sparks
in between the two the city gets inundated with long drawn ques of tourists

[*Swami Vivekananda, India's first spiritual and cultural ambassador to the West, came to represent the religions of India at the World Parliament of Religions, held at Chicago in connection with the World's Fair (Columbian Exposition) of 1893. His message of the unity of humankind and harmony of religions was embraced by the public and press of the time as representing the essence of the Parliament
In 1976 on the occasion of the American Bicentennial, Swami Vivekananda was honored by the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery as one who came to America from abroad during the past 200 years and made a significant impact on its spiritual development. ]

Hey Hey
supani, this is awe inspiring poetry. your enigmatic style adds a flavour of surreality to the realness of some of your words, whilst leaving other, unsurmountable, words available for another day's re-reading. this gives much scope for different interpretations within moods, times, locations etc. just great! I'd love to know something of your background.

dear hey hey,
i bow . thank your for your comments.
i hail from guntur andhrapradesh india. i worked as branch manager state bank of india, and opted for retirement during sept. i am on a sojourn visit
to detroit and will be leavng to india in the third week of april 2005. i came across the site. iam a p.g in telugu language[one indian language] and had a flair for poetry. had more than 500 poems lit essays in telugu for my credit.
of late i developed interest in writing english poems and was translating some well known poems of living authors to english, before i landed at detroit[50-- transupoems] . now with the encouragement given by good and well mannered poets like you inthe past six months i could do more than 200
all original poems. last sunday my visit to chicago enthralled me. so the poem.
i had an idea of voice recording of my poems by various co poets with a small naration about them and how the poem attracted their attention.
if our poets can do something to enliven my dream project by recording their flair through recoding their voice i am grateful.
any querries may be addressed to me. the recordings can be mailed to me if possible.
thanking you. for all the encouragement the copoets gave me in the forum
with regards

I must say that my friend Hey Hey put into words my feelings with extraordinary accuracy; better than I could have expressed them! I mean to say he got it just right; there is, I would say, a magical quality, indeed--as he says--a certain surreality to your poetry which I find most enchanting.

I am so glad to have you among us, and I hope you will still be with us when you are back in India, since we know no distance in this medium anyway. I have never been to Chicago, but you really do write wonderfully of it, with a magical perspective.

Your poetry is, as we said in school, really "a trip." It does take the reader on a delightful journey. I have come to a fresh love of Indian culture somehow through the flavor of your magic.

Thank you, dear R. Purushothamarao, for being a part of us, and making us better.

Love,

+Stevie
